Cheesecake is a classic, but try giving it a twist by adding purple yam. It also turns the cake a light pink, which is an interesting touch.

Purple Yam Baked Cheesecake

  • ½ lb Purple Yam
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese
  • 2 oz Yogurt
  • 3 Tbsp Milk
  • ¼ cup Flour
  • 3 Tbsp Sugar
  • 2 Egg


  1. Preheat oven to 335 F.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix cream cheese and sugar with electric mixer until creamy.
  3. Cut purple yam into thick round slices and place on a plate. Cover with saran wrap and microwave them for about 6 minutes (500W).
  4. Peel the skin and put them in a small bowl. Mix with milk and yogurt, and mash the yams while they’re still warm.
  5. In the cream cheese mixture, mix in eggs and yams. Sift flour and mix more.
  6. Line the round cake pan with baking sheet and pour in the batter. Bake for about 40-50 minutes.
  7. Cool it down and enjoy!
