Basic Teriyaki Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Mirin
  • 1 cup Soy Sauce
  • ½ cup Sake such as Sho Chiku Bai Classic or Gekkeikan
  • ½ cup Dark Brown Sugar

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the mirin, soy sauce, sake and brown sugar in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  2. Reduce the heat to a simmer and continue cooking for about 20 minutes, or until the sauce coats the back of a spoon.
  3. Take the pan off the stove and let the teriyaki sauce cool to room temperature. Store teriyaki sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
